Share Passwords Without Leaving Them in Chat History

Passwords and API keys are often shared through messaging apps or email, where the message may remain stored for months or years. A one-time encrypted note reduces that long-term exposure by letting the secret disappear after it's been viewed.

Protect the Link

Anyone with the full link may be able to decrypt the note - use a trusted channel to send it and avoid posting the link publicly.

Frequently asked questions

Chat and email leave a permanent copy sitting in an inbox or a message history, often unencrypted, for anyone with access to that account to find later. A Secure Note link works once and is then genuinely gone - and unlike the file it points to, Filevolo never has the key to read it even while it exists.

No. It's encrypted in your browser before it's sent anywhere, with a key that only ever exists in the link itself, in the part after the # character - a part of a URL that never reaches a server. Filevolo stores and serves scrambled data it cannot decrypt.

With "delete after it's viewed once" on (the default), the note is permanently deleted the moment the recipient opens it - opening the link a second time shows it's already gone, not the note again. Turn that off and it instead lasts up to 7 days, viewable more than once.

That's Secure Share - the same zero-knowledge encryption, built for files up to 50 MB instead of a pasted note.
