Filevolo

Secure Share

Share any file with a link only its recipient can decrypt. The file is encrypted before it leaves your browser, with a key Filevolo never receives - not a promise, an architecture. Free, up to 50 MB.

Up to 50 MB. Encrypted in your browser before it's ever uploaded.

You can also paste a file directly (Ctrl+V or ⌘V).

End-to-End Encrypted File Transfer

The server stores encrypted data rather than the readable original - different from a conventional upload where the service receives the file in a form it can technically read. When enabled, the encrypted file can also be deleted after the first successful download.

Protect the Link

Anyone who receives the complete sharing link may have access to the information needed to decrypt the file - treat the link like the confidential file itself, and send it only to the intended recipient.

Frequently asked questions

Everywhere else, the service you upload to can technically look at your file - they're just asking you to trust that they won't. Here, the file is encrypted in your browser before it's uploaded, with a key that's never sent to Filevolo at any point. The server only ever stores and serves scrambled data it cannot read - not a promise not to look, an architecture that makes looking impossible.

In the link itself, after the # character. Browsers never send the part of a URL after # to a server - it's used only inside your own browser. That's the entire mechanism: no server-side secret, no database column with a key in it, nothing to leak.

The file is gone, for you and everyone else - Filevolo has no copy of the key and no way to recover it. Treat the link the way you'd treat the file itself.

7 days, or until it's downloaded once if you turn on "delete after the first download" - whichever comes first either way. After that, both the encrypted data and its record are deleted.

50 MB per file for now.

That's Secure Note, at /secure-note - same zero-knowledge encryption, built for pasting text instead of uploading a file.
