Filevolo

Straighten a Scanned PDF

Detect and correct the skew angle on each page of a scanned PDF, processed in your browser.

Drag a scanned PDF here, or choose a file

Each page is automatically straightened if it's slightly crooked.

You can also paste a file directly (Ctrl+V or ⌘V).

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file is not uploaded to a server at any point.

Fixes the Slight Tilt a Scanner or Phone Camera Leaves Behind

A document that wasn't perfectly aligned on the scanner bed, or a page photographed at a slight angle, comes out with every line of text tilted the same few degrees. Filevolo measures that angle on each page by finding the rotation where the text lines line up most sharply into straight horizontal rows, then rotates the page to correct it - no manual adjustment needed.

Built for Scanned Pages, Not Text-Based PDFs

This tool rasterizes each page and works from the pattern of ink on it, which is exactly how a scanned document already exists as a PDF. A PDF made directly from a word processor is already perfectly straight and doesn't need this - running it through here would just flatten its real, selectable text into an image for no benefit.

Frequently asked questions

It tests a range of angles and finds the one where the page's text lines form the sharpest, straightest horizontal rows - that's the correction angle, detected automatically per page.

No - a page with no meaningful tilt is left as-is rather than nudged unnecessarily. The result screen tells you how many pages actually needed correcting.

It will run, but every page becomes a flattened image in the output, the same way a scanned page already is - if your PDF's text is already selectable and straight, you don't need this tool.

No hard limit, but very large scanned PDFs take longer since each page is analyzed individually.

No. Every page is rendered, analyzed, and corrected entirely in your browser.
